Professor Katherine Xin is a Professor of Management at CEIBS and the Chief Editor of the Chinese edition of the Harvard Business Review. She received her PhD in Management and MBA from the University of California, Irvine. Professor Xin also held teaching positions at various universities including Southern California University, HKUST, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and National University of Ireland.

Professor Xin’s research interests include leadership, change management, top management team dynamics and functions, and organizational networks. Currently, her research focuses on how executives in Asia and the United States use interpersonal networks to connect to organizations, as well as the importance of these connections to organizational performances. One large-scale study that Professor Xin is involved in studies top management teams in Sino-US joint ventures. The research examines how managers and executives with different cultures and different language skills can work together cooperatively and effectively. She frequently participates in academic and executive conferences and journals. Her research work has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, Organization Studies, Journal of Management, (Columbia) Journal of World Business, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, and other journals. She is an editorial board member of Academy of Management Journal.

In addition to her research and teaching, she works as a consultant and workshop leader, including assignments for multinational firms such as the Ford Motor Company, Toyota, DaimlerChrysler, Fluor Daniel, TRW, San Miguel, Acer Computer, Johnson & Johnson, and Qualcomm Communications in China and overseas.
